The Effect of Longitudinal Load Locations Against Roll Motion in Hand Liner Model

Abstract

Each fisherman has different habits and considerations when it comes to placing cargo on a fishing boat. Improper placement of the cargo is very dangerous because it can reduce the stability of the ship. Research is needed using the scale of the ship model to find out the location of the cargo that is good and that can be dangerous.   The treatment given includes M0 (control, no load), M1 (load at the stern), M2 (load in the midship), and M3 (load in the bow). The study was conducted to compare the number of roll frequencies, roll periods, and downtime of ship models across treatments. Experiments were conducted experimentally in controlled pools. The data was analyzed using a one-way ANOVA. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment of different cargo locations longitudinally had a significant influence on the motion of the ship model. The average order of the least to most numerous roll frequencies is the treatment of M1 and M2 (7.67 x), M3 (8 x), and M0 (10 x). The average order of the fastest to longest roll periods is M2 (0.952 s), M0 (0.956 s), M1 (1.034 s), M3 (1.675 s). The average order of the fastest to longest downtime is M2 (7,193 s), M1 (8,713 s), M0 (9,928 s), M3 (14,486 s). The M3 treatment has the longest roll period and roll downtime, while the M2 treatment has the fastest roll period and roll downtime.
