Effectiveness of seaweed feed Gracillaria verrucosa on the rate of digestibility and protein retention in milkfis (Chanos chanos Forskal)
Abstract
Gracilaria verrucosa seaweed is very potential as a local raw material as an additional nutrient for fish feed that is cultivated because it has good nutritional content, especially protein. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of feed with seaweed G. verrucosa on the rate of nutrient digestibility and protein retention in milkfish (Chanos chanos Forsk.). The research method used is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of four (4) treatments of feeding fish with G. verrucosa seaweed flour. and three replicates, namely control P1 (without the addition of G. verrucosa seaweed flour, P2, P3 and P4 (with the addition of G. verrucosa seaweed flour 5%, 10% and 15%, respectively). The research data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a 5% significance level and continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that the treatment with the addition of G. verrucosa seaweed in the feed showed a better rate of nutrient digestibility and protein retention in milkfish compared to the treatment without the addition of G. verrucosa seaweed. The best rate of nutrient digestibility and protein retention in milkfish was obtained from the addition of 10% seaweed G. verrucosa treatment.
